In the domain of science research, commercial information processing and so on, we need high-performance computing. The Job Management System(JMS) is a vital part of the high-performance computing environment, it provides new mechanisms for submitting, scheduling, running and controlling jobs, it can make full use of all kinds of resources in the network thus can make a kind of high-performance and high-reliability distributed computing environment. Studying the IMS is a meaningful job. This article studies the typical JMS NQS in a rather deep level, it means to do some preparing work in designing and implementing the new JMSs. The study work and the fruits are described as follows. This article points out the reasons for developing the JMS, the elementary functional elements of the JMS.This article analyses the NQS thoroughly, including its job management functions, its load sharing and its architecture. Through analyzing, it points out the problems in the aspects of the job management functions, the load sharing and the architecture of the NQS.Aiming at the problems in NQS' job management functions, this article introduces the JMS WorkCenter which the author participate in developing, WorkCenter is an improvement and enhancement of NQS, this article concludes the problems the author met with during his developing and the answers to these problems.Aiming at the problems in NQS' load sharing, this article proposes a new load sharing method called DFSS(Distributed Fair Share Scheduling), The author only makes the design and doesn't do any coding about it.Aiming at the problems in NQS' architecture, this article proposes the "function-oriented modular architecture" for the JMS. This architecture can serve as a blueprint for us to design the new JMSs.
