Auto-Focus is one of the most important technologies in digital imaging system, so it's crucial to many application areas where involve with imaging system, such as daily life, science research, military affairs. In recent several years, our lab (State Key Lab of Modem Optical Instrumentation, Image Engineering group) have spent quite a few on this subject and have got some important results, but the most of the research works are focused on auto-focus theory, algorithms. So in this thesis, First, We will give a brief summary of the research fruits contributed by my superior visitors and other postgraduates, then introduce my work has done by me in the subject. Then, We will put more attentions on the realization and application of the technology; analyze how to realize an auto-focus system based on PC and other system base on DSP. Last, We will give an application instance to demonstrate the value to the industry manufacture.The thesis is divide^ into several chapters. (1): Firstly, the paper briefs the principles and research status quo of auto-focus in digital imaging systems, introduces a DFD (Depth form defocus) auto-focus method based on frequency analysis. (2): Then analyzes the system structure of an auto-focus system based on PC in detail. (3): Thirdly, gives a discussion on the realization of another auto-focus system based on DSP of TI. (4): describes a suit of software, which has been delivered to several digital camera plants. (5): At the end of the paper, I will prospect the nature of the technology and analyze the possible research hot point aad the research development.
