The theory of wavelet is newly used for signal analysis which has been developed quickly in recent years. Contrary to the Fourier transform, the basis function used in wavelet is not exclusive. So a serious problem in engineering is that how to get the best wavelet basis, for different wavelet basis leads to different result. In this paper a new adaptive basis was constructed which has only one peak in frequency domain. A compression algorithm can be developed exploiting this basis to obtain the most economical representation of the image in terms of textured patterns. In contrary to the brushlet, the EZW(Embedded zerotree wavelet coding) algorithm is also discussed. The performance of brushlet in preserving the high frequency information at high compress ratio can be revealed when compared to the EZW algorithm in the result.
