Starting with analysis on the field of Gaussian Feed's aperture, the relations of radiation characteristic and power capacity and Gaussian beam waist radius are investigated particularly by using the circular waveguide intrinsic mode expansion method. It's found that the high exponent Gaussian feed overmatch general Gaussian feed on radiation characteristic and power capacity. After the synthetically thinking about the request, the range of the mode ratios can be calculated, that makes a base for designing a Gaussian feed.The Gaussian field can be obtained by controlling the mode coupling from the main mode to high mode. The program that can numerically solver the question of mode coupling in horn has been programmed according to the coupling wave theory and mode matching technology. To validating the validity of theory and program, an experiment horn has been manufactured. The measured result and the calculated one are accordant. The rough designed blue print are obtained from the abundant calculated result.
