In recent years, wireless communication systems have made a great progress world-wide. The number of mobile subscribers has been increasing rapidly, at the same time, there is more and deeper demands of the mobile subscribers for more sorts of wireless services and higher quality services, thus the demand of the rate data is higher. Therefore, how to use the precious wireless resources more efficiently has come to be an important problem to be solved.The application of smart antenna technique in wireless communications gives us a new solution. It allows the base station to transmit to and receive from mobiles by directional beams, which can improve the system performance by relieving the CCI, decreasing the transmission power, improving the spectrum efficiency, enlarging the system capacity and so on. Due to the difference of the communication environments and the complexity of communication devices between mobile and military communications, the application of smart antenna in wireless communication systems is still a new research topic. At the same time, the smart antenna is a hot-point in IT world. So, the research about the smart antenna has the important meaning both in technique and the practical application.The CDMA technique has come to be the primary multiple access techniques for the third generation mobile communication systems. Consequently, this thesis focuses on the smart antenna technique and its applications in DS/CDMA mobile communication systems, which the author's main contributions include:* Has introduced the basic conceptions of the smart antenna.* Has analyzed and summarized the scheme of the smart antenna.* Has introduced,simulated and compared the application algorithms of LS-DRMTA and LS-DRMTCMA.* Has introduced,simulated and compared the application algorithms of Pilot-associated LMS-DRMTA and Non Pilot-associated LMS-DRMTA.* Using the System View to construct a model for smart antenna and giving the result of the smart antenna system..
