Digital video post-processing is a kind of digital signal process technology that faced to diversity of digital television formats. Analog and digital video signal will coexist in a long time, so the TV set must be compatible for both kinds of formats. Hence, the chip in the TV should have the ability to convert formats between each other and to enhance the vision effect of the TV picture. In this dissertation, basing on digital video post-processing chip, we focus on the following three fields: theory of video processing, algorithm verification and hardware implementation. In order to compatible both analog and digital signals, a video post-processing chip must be able to convert interlaced analog signal to progressive digital signal. In addition, the chip should have another ability of improving the frame rate of the video signal in order to eliminate flicker. In this thesis, we analyze the cause of many kinds of video phenomena, and compare some different algorithm of video processing. The algorithm must be carefully verified before implemented to hardware in order to assure high performance of the system. We introduce a platform for real-time algorithm verification of video processing. In this article, we construct a such kind of platform based on DirectShow and other PC resources. Through the platform, the algorithm is well verified and proved to be good.On the side of hardware implementation, we break the traditional flow of ASIC design. Instead of using C-to-Verilog flow, we use SystemC to be the only language to descript the system to RTL level design. Using the new flow, we get high efficiency of hardware design and high reliability of system verification.
