The major aim of the target tracking design is tracking target reliably and accurately in military affairs and civil domain, such as air defense, weapon guidance, satellite measurement and control and air traffic control etc.Target tracking based on parameterized technique covers two aspects, that is, tracking methods based on motion parameter or based on image information. Both tracking methods achieve the target tracking state in common by establishing the motion parameter model and obtaining the motion state estimation of the target.As to tracking filtering method based on motion parameter, the original research in this paper is listed as follows: Firstly, a kind of a - 3 - Y filtering way of alterable parameter is developed. Secondly, on the basis of spline filtering, a spline Kalman filtering method is brought forward, which can detect the maneuver when the target is maneuvering. Thirdly, Formulae of spline Kalman filtering method are also discussed with the hypothesis that the process noise or the measurement noise is color noise. Fourthly, the application of spline Kalman filtering is investigated when the measurement equation is nonlinear. A mass of simulation results and practical data filtering results indicate that a T 3 - y filtering method of alterable parameter could process real-time maneuvering target tracking with considerable precision and quick response. It also shows that the spline Kalman filtering is superior to Kalman filtering when the target is maneuvering while their results are similar when the target is non-maneuvering.As for the imagery target tracking method, a new dual-mode tracking algorithm is developed in this paper. Accordingly taking this algorithm as a core technique, a real-time tracking software system is built. It could be used to track the ground target steadily. At last one target tracking method on the basis of target centroid measurement is studied.
