CnLiSAF tunable solid-state lasers have caused broad attention in laser research fields because of high efficiency, compactness, long storage lifetimes, long operating life, and improved beam quality. In recent years, with the progressive improvements in the growth of LiSAF and the developments of LD technology, they have shown absolute advantages such as laboratory x-ray lasers, optical data storage, isotope analyzing, laser radar, undersea communications. In this paper we study the Cr.LiSAF tunable solid-state laser:1. Reviewed the history of tunable lasers, especially Cr: LiSAF solid-state tunable lasers, made comparison among all kinds of solid-state tunable lasers.2. This chapter has addressed the optical and the thermal mechanical properties of the CrLiSAF crystal in detailed.3. We have studied theoretically effects of up-conversion and thermal quenching of fluorescence. The results greatly improve the small signal gain performance of Cr:LiSAF crystal.4. We have designed the three mirror folded cavity tunable LiSAF laser. A theoretically design of the optimizing the three mirror folded cavity tunable LiSAF laser has been performed for further research.5. We have demonstrated a high power LD end-pumped Nd:YVO4/LBO intra-cavity frequency-doubled laser. 825mW of 671nm is achieved, the optical-optical conversion efficiency is 5%.
