Visual information, especially dynamic visual information, takes the most part of environment information that is perceived by the human being. Therefore, perceiving the dynamic visual information in the environment has become an important research field in Computer Vision. Because of its good application prospect, moving object detection and tracking has been a hotspot in present research work. In this paper, we present a moving object detection method for outdoor background according to the development of an intelligent object monitoring and tracking system based on video images.The research interest of moving object detection is image sequence. First, this paper introduces the vision principle of moving object detection and the common methods on sequential images analyzing. Because the object is far from the camera, and also the outdoor environment has much interference, the background of gathered sequential images is often offset. Therefore, we propose a correspondence approach for feature points in sequential images. In the process of dealing with image sequences, we will revise the match if the offset of image background is big.In this paper, we also present an object detection algorithm for sequential images. With the difference algorithm of image sequence, we can eliminate the background and extrude the moving object in images. With this thought, we do difference on image sequence in two phases, and than analyze images combining with math morphologic means, which can eliminate periodicity motion, segment the moving area of moving object, and finally, we get the tracing and location of moving object.At last, we discuss an intelligent field Surveillance system based on video images. The structure of system's hardware, controlling principle of camera, image sampling on the spot, and also the system's function are summarized, and then the experiment results and analysis are presented. This system has been checked and used in the oil warehouse of DaQing Oil Field.
