Edge extraction of the scenery is one of the most elementary technique in the field of the image processing and vision computing. How to extract the edge information of the scenery exactly and quickly is the researchful hotspot of this field at all times. With this technique examined in depth and the whole field抯 development, edge extraction has become the base of the image segmentatiorn object identification. image compressing and so on. This paper briefly introduces the concepts and characters of the edge extraction technique, and summarizes many classic methods~ theories of this technique, also analyzes their advantages and disadvantages. This paper discusses two novel methods of edge extraction--- relaxation algorithm and heuristic search algorithm. We analyze the ideas of these two methods in detail and indicate their merit and demerit through lots of experiments. In addition, a new technique--- the accumulation of self-reinforcement of heuristic search trajectories of independent-edges is presented. Its core idea, theoretic ground are illustrated. Also, we simulate this method by emluator, and the experiment shows that this method is excellent. At last, using the edge extraction technique, we design a method of automatic identification of the runway of airport. According to its characters, we summarize the model of the runway, and utilize the mean of production and verification to recognize the runway. Lots of experiments prove that this method can identify the runway exactly and quickly.
