Dynamic model is simplified reasonably in this paper, based on the analysis of mathematical model and the simulation of the typical work state of propulsion system of thermal power torpedo. Design methods of variable structure equivalent control laws and approaching laws are both applied to the design of controller of propulsion system, at the work state of constant depth and variable speed, constant speed and variable speed movement of torpedo. Then numerical simulation validation is carried out. The results of simulation show that control method of the later has greater precision than that of the former, and can restrain from the chattering effectively, what抯 more, conception of physics is clear, algorithm is very simple and is easy to implement. So the problem need to be solved well in the engineering application of the control of work state of dynamic propulsion system of torpedo is solved preliminarily. In addition, the problem on how to choose pressure resource of variable structure of electrical-hydraulic servo system of fuel pump is discussed and studied in this paper, and a feasible scheme that the resource of pressure is drawn from the behind of fuel pump is proposed. Another emphasis of this paper is, that simulating calculation and analysis on work state of propulsion system of the certain type of torpedo during the period of the switch between speeds system is carried out, and optimum design of key part---- control valve of both speeds system is conducted by means of simple shape. As a result, performance of static and dynamic state of transient process is improved evidently. In this paper, solving the variable structure controller by means of approaching laws, causes chattering weaken effectively. Therefore, the control algorithm could be applied to practical system, this is innovative work inland. The control method is not only suitable to the system of propulsion of torpedo, but it is of important value of reference for other engineering field.
