Application And Research Of Parallel Database Systems

Parallel DBMS on the base of Parallel Computer System is an important direction to developntit of DBMS now. In this paper, I discussed and analyzed theories, techrologies and methods about Parallel DBMS through comparing it with iaditional RDBMS. This paper is divided into three carL. n the first part, introduced Irittgr2ted-Operation System for a trusteeship company that is a database application based on traditional RDBMS. The system has already run over half of a year smoothly, and it users all said ok. We basically reached the designing goal of the system. But when it was executing query in the many tables joining or several long transactions at the same time, it responded very slowly. This problem is because of localization of traditional RDBMS. If the system based on Parallel DBMS, the problem would be sell led thoroughly. In the second part, I described Parallel DBMS history, software structure, physical organizing and data-parallel-operation algorithm, and Parallel Computer System conceptions, through comparing it with traditional RDBMS. In the last part, I discussed the methods of Query Opl imization about Sybase example of traditional RDBMS and the several methods of Query Optimization about Parallel DBMS, which is very important in DBMS.
