As one of the two chief regions in Sichuan Province for carrying out west exploitation Liangshan District is great potential of synthetical exploitation of country resources with the core of soil resource . But at present the content of science and technology to exploit resources is relatively low ,and the level of agricultural information is not high in Liangshan District. Due to the low level of agricultural information ,the exploitation of agricultural resource and the economy are limited ,so It is urgent to develop agricultural new and high technology,especially to research of and popularize aricultural expert system .At present there are some problems such as short of basic soil information and short of the support of soil database system in agricultural expert system. On the other side ,the research of agricultural expert system dose not deep into microcosmic and extract field . Based on collection and investigation of a great deal of soil information ,The paper researched of the designing and applying of Liangshan District soil database system with the support of GIS and ES and with the validation of the parallel analysis on the experimentation, established for the first time the soil database system of Liangshan District based on OIS and ES ,provided with the principle ,means and patterns of establishing district level soil database system and the technic cource of popularizing and applying The result of the experimentation indicated that the Liangshan District soil database system is not only the important subsystem of agricultural system but also suitable to the demand of soil basic information during the cource of agricultural production ,management and decision-making by producer,governor and user.
