In this paper, we discuss the two sides of the presently hot themeabout chaos respectively --- eliminating chaos and utilizing chaos. Firs ofall, based on the chaos theory in conjunction with the latest methodsabout controlling chaos, a novel algorithm of controlling the unstableperiodic orbits embedded in chaotic attractor is presented. In this methodthe approximation of unstable equilibrium points in chaotic attractor arefound from the system map graph, and then with the help of it thenonlinear feedback control is used to control chaos. The simulatingresults demonstrate that it has good adaptability performance and itssimple structure is readily to be constructed. Secondly, a new hybridalgorithm, which combines the chaos optimization method and theparallel evolutionary programming algorithm, is proposed that is calledChaos-Parallel Evolutionary Programming algorithm by the author. Andit is attempted to solve the Flow-shop scheduling problem. Thesimulation results indicate that it is a high quality-optimizing algorithm.
