With the detective and manipulative system developing, fault detection and diagnostics (FDD) is an important part. By the application of fault detection and diagnostics (FDD),people can improve the reliability~. maintainability and security. The fault detection and diagnostics (FDD) is an important precondition that ensures smooth and secure course and optimize management. Penicillin fermentation is a complicated biochemical and nonlinear system. The efficiency of penicillin fermentation is the stability of the fermentation process. Thus the study about the fault detection and diagnostics has practical effect for the penicillin fermentation. Besides, the study has strong use for reference for biochemical process. By comparing the advantage and disadvantage of each nonlinear filter, a fault detection and diagnostics model base on Suboptimal Fading Extended Kalman Filter about the penicillin fermentation was found. The complicated relation of faults and parameters that were forecasted by the filter are perplexing. So, in the paper the artificial neural network model was found base on the back-propagation (BP). In this paper the fault tree expressed the earlier knowledge about fault and the way of fault coding was set down. Moreover, the expandability of the artificial neural network and the effect of founding model base on ART was discussed.
