Image fusion is one branch of image processing technology, through the specify way of data analysis, image processing, it can generate an image including all characteristics from multi-source sensors which is suitable for the human visual system. It can provide favorable conditions to subsequent image analysis, image detection and target recognition. In the fusion technology, infrared and visible light image fusion is widely used, where can be able to combine the reflection properties of the target in the visible image and the radiation characteristics of the target in the infrared image. Through the image fusion, we can get an image with the characteristics of clear infrared contour and high contrast background details.In this paper, the infrared and visible light image fusion technology is studied, and on this basis, gray level image fusion based on multi-scale transform and coefficient optimization of pulse coupled neural network are in-depth studied with color image fusion based on the improved contrast enhanced color transfer technology. First of all, for the gray level image fusion, this paper mainly introduces the principle and implementation way of the NSCT and the Shearlet transform, and does some studies on image fusion algorithm with the combination of multi-scale transform and pulse coupled neural network (PCNN). By optimizing the image fusion rules and PCNN model parameters, we put forward a parameter optimization of gray level image fusion method, and use Matlab to achieve several fusion algorithm (PCA, Shearlet transform, wavelet transform, NSCT transform) simulation. In the end, we analyze the fusion image quality.In addition, in this paper, the colorized fuse image visualization is studied. We mainly introduce the color image fusion method based on different color space, and color transfer technology of contrast enhancement is studied. We put forward an improved contrast enhanced color image fusion method, and through comparing several kinds of algorithm the in image fusion, we can see, the proposed algorithm visibility is stronger with good fusion effect.
