Multispectral imaging technology, a very important application in target detection, is a vital technology in military engineering. Research of the light, small and practical multispectral imaging instrument which can suit the low-attitude UAV, and related evaluation methods means a lot in improving the detection of military engineering. In terms of optical imaging system, this paper focusing on targets’ spectral characteristics and special needs for the load requirements when designing low altitude platform, applies a multispectral imager of single-splitter prism structure to test exposure imaging among four spectrum regions simultaneously, in which view of each channel are unified to ensure that the consistency in space and time. This paper designs a structure combining X-type prism and dichroic prism to a separate four-channel spectrums which benefits miniaturization design. A Gauss double type object-lens was designed in this paper with relative aperture of 1/2.6, back focal length of 45mm, and distortion of four channels less than 0.3% to meet the requirements of the project indicators. And the resolution of image is better than 0.1 meter. In image processing, this paper discussed the color image fusion and target features’ enhancement in the fused image. In evaluation of engineering effect, this paper designed a built-in light radiation calibration and a testing method based on the experience of ground linear calibration equation, which can realize fast measuring the ratio of brightness or reflectivity between different regions in the same image. Also, the feasibility and reliability of the testing method were verified through the simulation experiments which show that the relative error is less than 6.5%.From the design of the optical imaging system to the study of radiation detection method, this paper provides a new device and detection method in military engineering evaluation.
