In recent years, cylindrical array scanning beamforming technology is hot in high-precision target tracking of radar research. This technology not only provides a full range of 360° scanning. Also, it can easily control the beam pointing to track the target by selecting picket incentives according to a certain order.At first, according to the circular array and cylindrical array scanning beamforming scheme, on the basis of uniform linear array pattern function, the simulation experiments are conducted to analysis the pattern functions of the beams. The phase shift values and the weights of DBF are also geted. Meanwhile, the influence of transmit beams’ phase shifter to the receive beams is analyzed. Secondly, according to the cylindrical array scanning beamsforming scheme, the method of sum and difference amplitude comparison is chosen for measuring the angles. When the angle where the targets range is needed to be determined, acoording to the receiving antenna signals of the actual project, in order to fully utilize the phase information of the echo signals, the sum and difference amplitude comparison angle measurement is not directly to be used. The amplitude of the received beam is to be performed a complex addition and subtraction firstly. Then, the real of the output is used the sum and difference amplitude comparison angle measurement. In the azimuth dimension, each CPI can be conducted the sum and difference amplitude comparison angle measurement. Every two CPI can be conducted the simulation experiment in the pitch dimension. Then the impact of the phase shifter quantization bits to the cylindrical array scanning beam pointing accuracy is analyzed. The beam pattern is not to be got, the quantization error of each array element’s phase shifter、pointing error array element are needed to be analyzed. Though those, the pros and cons of rounded tail method、two possible values method and recursive comparative phase feeding method are geted. At last, the effect of the array element number to the cylindrical array scanning beamforming is analysed. The different numbers of array elements’ patterns of azimuth and elevation dimensions are simulated. The performance of the patterns is analyzed.The number of array elements to optimize the design of the beam is got.
