Insurance Core Business System Test Management

After China entered WTO, insurance industry is facing a more complex and changeable market environment than ever before. The industry is facing growing demand for higher quality services, stable product, secured data and flexible business model integration. Better test management is key to the success of software development. During test process, issues such as creating an executable test plan, choosing an efficient test strategy, organizing and planning reasonable requirement analysis and design, efficient progress tracking, etc, become more and more important to test managers.Based on the core insurance business system, and following theory of test and project management and real-life project management experience, this paper introduced the system and application of test management covering complete testing phases.From the point of view of test manager, the paper started from test planning phase. It covered analysis of requirement, test strategy models for different test levels. It also introduced test design method. In test execution phase, it provided analysis for test environment set up, test data preparation, entrance and exit criteria for each test phase, test progress monitor and results analysis. Finally it studied management for requirement and defect, and it also covered other topics like test team structure, use of test management tool, etc. In test plan, it illustrated how to broke down requirements into check points. And it gave the model by setting it together with test tasks broken down, with quantity evaluation for other aspects that can affect test. This method gave accurate test effort estimation. On test design methodology, it began from a single function, then to business flow, and finally to business scenario. This methodology can be leveraged by similar test project.The study of this paper provided a system of test management against such type of insurance business system. It not only described test management in a general way, but also emphasized on test plan, test requirement, models and rules, and progress monitor.
