Abstract/Summary:
In the three-layered architecture of the IOT, the perception layer is the sensory organ. Among all technologies that related to this layer, the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and the Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are listed in the most important supporting technologies, and they have been playing important roles in the process of the IOT development.RFID deals with the need to identify items in the IOT. Recently, the authentication protocols have become a hotspot of RFID's security research. Differently, with WSN, people can percept and gather environmental data by deploying a great deal of sensors. At present, the focus of WSN security research is about key management protocols. There are two similarities that link RFID and WSN together. On the one hand, the devices involved are generally inexpensive, which entail low computational capability as well as limited memory. On the other hand, the common base can be abstracted to a many-to-many wireless communication architecture.Considering the similarities of the two kinds of protocols, we analyze the security needs and related solving schemes. And finally, base on Blom's matrix scheme, in this paper we propose a new RFID authentication protocol, as well as a WSN key management protocol. The RFID authentication protocol based on Blom's scheme is a creational application of the original scheme. It transforms the original symmetric operations of the communication parties into a series of asymmetric operations, by which Blom's scheme is successfully transplanted onto the environment of RFID. On one hand, with rigorous security analysis, we prove that this protocol shows sufficient quality on mutual authentication, confidentiality, indistinguishability, forward security, as well as synchronization security. On the other hand, in other part of protocol analysis we slightly modified the original protocol such that the protocol gains better feasibility. The WSN key management protocol based on Blom's scheme adds a key-updating module onto the original protocol, such that the protocol can dynamically update pair-wise keys. We rigorously analyzed the security, the energy cost, and the scalability of the new protocol. For illumination, we design and execute simulation experiments to explain the advantages of the new protocol.
