This paper mainly introduces the research and the application of the monocular and binocular identification systems. The focuses of this paper include:The treatment of the active shape model in the monocular identification system, combined with Gaussian mixture model, which is used to track goldfish; On the basis of monocular vision recognition system, binocular vision recognition system is researched and developed to make identification of persons and vehicles. The implementation work includes following aspects:(1) developed a monocular vision system based on active shape model combined with Gaussian mixture model. The system can build a shape model by collecting a set of samples, and also perform the recognizing process.(2) studied the conditions of 3D information recovery, and developed a binocular vision system by combining the active shape model and the camera calibration technique. As to an object of special kind, the system can distinguish out the target, and recover its 3D information. To improve the efficiency of model-building process, the authors also developed two tools with friendly interface.
