With the development of modern science and technology, microwave tubes have been widely used in communications, radar, missile system and other civilian and military facilities. In the manufacture of microwave tubes, the magnetic focusing system, which directly affects the efficiency and duration of the microwave tubes, is one of the most important components of electron optics system. Nowadays, how to reduce the weight and improve the efficiency and performance of the magnetic focusing system has become an important part of the research of microwave tubes. Meanwhile, with the development and application of computer technology, the CAD technology for microwave tubes has become an effective tool for each part of the design. This paper is based on the above background. The basic theory of magnetic focusing system has been introduced and the innovative simulation algorithm has been studied.Firstly, the application of microwave tubes and an overview of CAD technology have been introduced. The basic theory of magnetic focusing system has been analyzed, including some basic structures and the calculation method of magnetic field. Then the principle and steps of the design of the magnetic system have been discussed.Secondly, the application of finite element method in magnetic field and the details of the first and second order interpolation function of the magnetic field have been described.At last, the flow chart of the simulation has been designed and the magnetic field of single solenoid model and the periodic model have been simulated. Then the result of second order interpolation algorithm has been compared with Ansoft Maxwell 2-D, and the convergence has been discussed between the first and second order interpolation algorithm. The conclusion is: the second order interpolation function of finite element method is more accurate and has a better convergence. So the algorithm can be used in practical simulation of certain magnetic system.
