Hand-drawn animation emphasizes to adopt a more exaggerated way, to draw sketches and represent characters, so the creative art of animation has good value.In the production of traditional animation, which make the workload of rendering very large. So the main problem which we faced in studying of hand-drawn animation is that how to enhance the animation production efficiency and provide user-friendly interaction while highlighting the role of art features.Around these problems, there have been many computer-assisted methods of producing hand-drawn animation. However, there are several significant problems in these methods: 1. Some methods can improve the animation production efficiency, but they reduce the role of artistic expression, the animation is difficult to highlight the common key features of the abstract exaggerated. Such as the introduction of 3D animation production techniques, generated animation based on the video stream and use the reusing method of materials to produce animation.2. The introduction of new ideas and new methods, but the animation has less efficient.Such as introduce the traditional Chinese artistic elements. The semi-automatic in-betweening frames techniques of hand-drawn animation in present studies,which can meet the user to fully express the idea of the heart, define and descripe the animation in a natural way, highlight the role of the art features, but the production efficiency of these methods is still low. Thus, the study of highlighting the role of the art features,at the same time, improving the efficiency of animation production effectively and facilitating end-user operation, which is a major problem in hand-drawn animation currently. This paper is centered on how to solve this problem.The automatic in-betweening technology which is different from other methods, a key is that it can meet the painters to express their inner ideas in a nature way,and highlight the role of abstract art of exaggerated features.At present,there are still the following questions:the heavy workload in determining the relationship between frames and the corresponding interpolation problem, and the animating need further improvement.Base on these issues,this paper present an more efficient and natural methods to assistant freehand drawing cartoons by combining with automatic in-betweening technology:design an algorithm of determining the corresponding relationship between keyframes,and an intermediate in-betweening frames algorithm,and develope a software prototype to achieve these algorithms above. This method emancipate painter from the time-consuming animation into the creative of hand-drawn animation art. So the creative process of animation highlight the role of abstract art of exaggerated features and improve animation production efficiency and provide the convenience for the end-user's operation. This study has a certain reference value on the future development of hand-drawn animation.
