| Under the influence of the compulsory exams, the conceptual teaching methods are often being neglected by many teachers and students in the mathematics teaching in the practice. The forming process of the mathematics theories is also being left out while the teaching is planned. The prominent issue amongst all is that a lot of attention has only been paid into the teaching of the theories and applications rather than invoking a truly understanding of the forming process of those mathematical theories and the thinking processes/ methodologies behind them. In other words, the exercises and practices for the exams have been received great attention but the research of the new teaching methods has been largely overlooked. The real and deep understanding of the mathematical concepts should be regarded as the fundamental element of the mathematics teaching. It is important for helping student to establish a solid conceptual and scientific system within them. Therefore, the importance of new conceptual teaching methods needs to be realized. This research focuses on the learning and experiences taken from the process of applying the new conceptual teaching methods. It uses the conclusions of some previous researches, follows the theory of the conceptual teaching and learning and summarizes the author's practical experiences in teaching mathematics. This also refers to several case studies in order to bring up some discussions around them and draw new conclusions based on the discussions. The paper aims at the discussions of the three teaching process: the concept formation, the concept perception and the concept application. This will mainly focus on the concept formation and the concept perception when using the new conceptual teaching methods, also emphasis how to use relevant teaching methods to help the perception and learning of the concepts. The discussion of the concept learning will be drilled down into three parts: the utilization of the natural perception in the conception learning, the history of mathematics and the forming process of the mathematical theories and the uses of mathematical methodologies in the conceptual learning. This will also discuss the benefits of using the paired comparison analysis, the related diversification and the error correction in the concept formation as well as how these would help students to grasp the most intuitive and abstract part of the knowledge. |
