The loss of primary and secondary school teachers in most rural areas across the country, especially in central and western China, has become a prominent issue in the education field. This paper takes the case in the city of Zhangjiajie in Hunan Province from the view of society, politics, economics and also from the aspects of history, geography and ethnics to explore how to solve the problem of the school teacher's losses.The situation of elementary education in rural Zhangjiajie is awful. It lays a thin foundation in teaching which offers us poor teaching conditions and then results in the serious loss of teaching resources as well as a hard development in education. Through investigations, this paper has got the original reasons which are as follows: Inadequate investment in education, poor pay and benefits for teachers, lack of respect of teachers, teachers' lack of vocational identity, lack of attention and recognition from competent authorities.We can decrease the loss, though hard to totally avoid it, as long as the government officials attach more importance to the loss of teachers in rural regions as well as the local authority of education's endeavors. Thus, the author gives 6 proposals which may keep teachers staying in rural areas. There are 6 bye, One by career, to offer stages of developing specialized skills; Two, by policy, to increase funds through various approaches; Three, by responsibility, to emphasize the duty of being teachers; Four, by pays and benefits, to improve the treatment of rural area teachers; Five, by passion, to take more care of the teachers; Six, by governing mechanism, to maintain an orderly flow of teachers at their posts.How can rural schools adapt to the new competitive situation for talents under the socialist market economy? How can they keep relatively stable among the teachers in rural undoubtedly study and solution? According to the educational experiences both in and out of Zhangjiajie, this paper proposes some strategies on solving the problem and the education authorities.
