Gender is a factor to compose the social relationship on the basis of the visible sexual differences, which is used to show the relation of power. Gender is different from sex. The social characters and roles between male and female, the influence of the social culture on the sexual differences and the social relationship between male and female are emphasized on the basis of the acknowledgement of the biological differences between male and female in the theory of Gender, the main content of which is to emphasize the differences between male and female. The theory of Gender provides a new angle of view and way to think in the study of domestic violence. In this paper, Gender and the theory of Gender are introduced first. Then the connation and extension of domestic violence are discussed and defined. In the third part, the author analyzes the cause and harm of domestic violence in China from the angle of Gender and puts forward the suggestions to perfect our laws on domestic violence.
