College physical education is an important section of the higher education and the physical competition is a basilica approach to promote the college physical education. In recent years, cultivating high level athletes turns to be main schedule of college physical education work. Along with development of market economy, as other public products, college physical education competition no longer depends on the volunteer or public service provided by government or non-governmental organizations, but to gain from the commercial exchange by meeting the appreciation need. At the same time, it provides the well environment and condition for market-oriented improvement of college physical education competition, owing to the development of China sports industry and sports markets.College physical education competition accessing market is a necessity of physical education renovation and development in our country. However, the market-oriented improvement of college physical education competition can not catch up with the evolution of our modern society, and is hampered by the outdated thoughts and management systems. During such improvement process, corporations and college physical education competition are indivisible. The cognizance for business opportunities of college physical education competition can affect the operation strategy and planning of the sponsors. Undeniably, outdated management system and relative low athletic level of the competition are main obstacles to the finance decisions of the firms.In this paper, we apply fundamental theories of sports management, sports marketing and so on to study the market-oriented improvement of physical education competition in foreign countries, and we also analyze the origin, development, basic characteristics and forms of the market-oriented improvement of college physical education competition in our country. We try to conclude some successful experiences and restriction factors of such market-oriented improvement and call on comprehensive investigation in further studies. We hope that our work can provide some theoretical guidance for market-oriented improvement of college physical education competition in our country.
