| Western eco-feminism is a kind of thought developed in the face of the current ecological crisis. Eco-feminism holds that the existing "patriarchal" dual system of scientific thinking mode leads to oppression of the nature and females. Western eco-feminism is seeking a way to get rid of such oppression and to build a new mode of thinking. Such aspirations have found some powerful converging points in traditional Chinese Taoism of Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi.This thesis, on the basis of introducing western eco-feminism, compares it with traditional Chinese Taoist eco-feminism of Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi. The thesis consists of four parts.Partâ… mainly introduces the ecological feminist connotation and summarizes the current academic research of eco-feminism. Partâ…¡introduces the origin, affiliation, evolution, development and questions and challenges of the Western eco-feminism. Partâ…¢expounds comprehensively the connotation, views and performances of traditional Chinese Taoist eco-feminism of Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi. Partâ…£analyzes and ponders on both similarities and differences between western eco-feminism and traditional Chinese Taoist eco-feminism.The comparison displays similarities between western eco-feminist dual thinking mode as well as eco-ethical awareness and Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi's theory of harmony and evolution. At the same time apparent disparities occur in the starting points, the ultimate goals and the innovative ideas. Therefore how to effectively integrate the two applications is an unsolved problem that deserves our attention. |
