Early Childhood Teachers Role In Curriculum Management

The role of Kindergartener in the curriculum management is a problem that comes with the new round of revolution of curriculum. This research draws lessons from others' study and mainly relies on the method of interview. 36 teachers are interviewed, 16 teachers come from a public kindergarten. 15 teachers come from a private kindergarten. The rest 5 teachers are interviewed together after a lecture. It is about the self-perception of the kindergarteners' roles in curriculum management. From the research we obtain the results that teachers' self-perceptions of their roles in curriculum management are including 8 kinds of roles. There are decision maker of base-class, supporter of high-class, curriculum source developer and integrator in curriculum planning; promoter, coordinator, collaborator in curriculum implementation; innovator, participator, responder in curriculum valuation. Moreover, the author analyzes the main external and internal factors which affect the self-perception of role. The primary external factors involve the management class of teachers, organization culture and organization climate, external authority given. The leading internal factors are including teachers' mental status and personality, curriculum management consciousness, curriculum management capability. And then the author proposes several suggestions for supporting teachers to realize their roles: widening the communicating channels, establishing democratic organization environment, giving more right to teachers as three external ways. Perfecting teachers' mental health, improving their consciousness and capability as three internal approaches. The research is based on the management theory. It is expected that other curriculum stakeholders can pay attention to teacher' s role in curriculum management.
