The traditional Chinese moral is based on traditional Confucian moral, Benevolence ( Ren in Chinese), which means to love others, is the kernel of Confucianism. In the first part of the essay the thought of Confucian benevolence and the analysis of its value are introduced, pointing out that benevolence is the most valuable moral of all. To be benevolent one should love not only his family but also the masses. Benevolence represents the basic standard for us Chinese to modulate the interpersonal relationships. It contributes a lot to helping develop the Chinese national character, though it also has its limitations.In the second part, the reasons why some teachers and middle school students lack benevolence are analyzed. Firstly, the manifestation of the lack of benevolence is enumerated. As far as the students are concerned, the problems, which are found by conducting questionnaires and individual conversaziones, lies in their self-centered, selfish and lack of self-esteem. As for the teachers, some of them depreciate moral education or lack the devotion to education career and students. There are many reasons for that, for instance, the insufficient school education, improper family education and social morality, the compromise of morality, the only-child factor, adolescent problems and rebellious attitude all contribute to it.The third part of the essay is mainly about the practical significance of benevolence on middles school moral education and the edification on moral cultivation. The practical significance of benevolence consists in it that it can help students develop humanism, build up proper human relationship attitude, have a ultimate goal and reinforce collective concept. How to apply the benevolence to morality education is fully expounded in this part: firstly, teachers are supposed to set good examples for the students and lay great emphasize on professional ethics. To achieve the goal, four requirements on how to perform morality education are put forward here, that is to say teachers should be conscientious and careful in teaching, build up new teacher-student relationships, love the students and set good examples for students. Secondly, education on morality should be reinforced in schools to build up a good atmosphere in school by making clear the morality education target and integrating the regulations. Lastly, the essay deals with how to combine the thoughts of benevolence with middle school morality education effectively. To achieve this goal, thoughts of benevolence should be infiltrated in ideological and political education classes, more professional head-teachers are needed and the function of the class must be strengthened. What's more, more activities, including housework activities and public welfare activities, should be organized to allow students more chances to develop benevolence. Students should learn to have self-esteem and self-respect by proceeding healthcare education and life-treasuring education. In addition, the construction of campus culture should also be carried out simultaneously.
