Modernity is essentially a way of social structure. In pre-modern society, the unity of society is mainly maintained through spiritual concepts t, however, in modern time, material relation plays a key role to form individuals and society into a unity. Modernity inherently includes contradictions of individual spiritual freedom and social mandatory, this contradiction makes individual and society in a state of confrontation. Hegel, as well as the other German classical philosopher, seeks to build an ideal social model to adjust the individual-society contradictions. That philosophy, because of their commitment to resolve the contradictions of modernity vested in the modernity philosophy discourse. Modernity philosophy try to seek a rational way to resolve contradictions of modern, however it has not touched modernity itself. Marx was directly aimed at the essential contradiction of modernity, and he has grasped the movement mechanism of productivity and capital. He has also pointed out a direction to get out of modernity to the predicament. Reading through the different stages of the text, the author finds that there lies a clue to the modernity of man in Marx's critique of the modernity. Marx's penetration of the modernity philosophy discourse, facing things-themselves, giving birth to thought of the modernity of man, and to solve the modern conflict through the perspective of unification of personalization and socialization has many significance to our research of modernity.
