| The eighth basic education curriculum reform of our country officially started at the turn of the century .The new century basic education curriculum reform shoulders the responsibility to train creative, pioneer talents. Developing teaching resources that follow the spirit of "Basic Education Curriculum Reform Outline" and satisfy the requirement of curriculum standard, especially the textbooks of every curriculum is a key respect of the reform.The issuance of "Ordinary High School Biology Curriculum Standard " offers new demands and challenges for the preparation of biological textbooks for the high school students. In 2004, ordinary high school education curriculum standard experimental textbook "Biology" prepared by People Educational Press was put out and began to use in four provincial-level experimental blocks of the whole country: Guangdong, Ningxia, Shangdong, and Hainan. At the start stage of the new curriculum, it has important theoretical and practical significance to compare and analyze the new and old textbooks prepared by People Educational Press. By means of analysis, comparison and investigation, the paper tries to make a more comprehensive research and investigation to explore the characteristics, advantages and shortcomings of the new textbook, and wish to provide reference opinion and suggestions for the preparation, revision and application of high school biological textbooks.The paper is composed of six parts. The first part analyzes foreign biological textbooks, outlines the history of our country's high school biological textbooks, indicates the background and instruction thought of the new textbook's preparation, concludes the present status and significance of research. The second part puts forward the materials and methods of this study. The third part gives quantitative and qualitative comparison between the new and old textbooks. The focuses of comparison are contents, structure, the infiltration of STS education, illustration. The paper explores the characteristics of the new textbook and theexpression of the new curriculum ideas, discovers the advantages and shortcomings of the new textbook through intensive comparison and analysis. The fourth part gives an investigation of the new textbook's trial through questionnaire and acquires the first-hand information and data. On the base of the statistical analysis of the findings, the fifth part summarizes the characteristics of new textbook. The survey shows that the new textbook's preparation has many innovations, embodies the basic concepts of the new curriculum, matches the requirements of new curriculum content, and is a set of more excellent high school biological textbook. The preparation of a set of high-quality biological textbook is a process of continuously and gradually perfect process. The new textbook still exists some shortages, the sixth part aims at the existent problems and gives some specific suggestions to the revision and improvement of the new textbook. It expects that will enlighten the theoretical construction and application of high school biological textbooks and benefit it to some extent. |
