Culture Of Traditional Chinese Virtues And The Modern Personality

The modern personality is the elemental quality for the university students who live in the modern society, it is the embodiment of modern spirit and ethical development; it is also the unity of potential exploit and self-transcend. It is critical to cultivate the students' modern personality which does not separate from the traditional personality, but the modern transition and creation of it. So, the Chinese traditional morality plays an important role in the education. As the national spiritual core and cultural disposition, the traditional morality has merged into the national ideas and behaviors, has prevailed in every realm of social life, and has linked closely with modern society peculiarity. Therefore, it is very necessary to combine the traditional morality with cultivation of modern personality. This thesis includes four parts:The first part makes the theoretical foundation of modern personality from the ethics point, and analyzes the primary meaning of it. The second part argues the traditional morality academic value and practical function. The third part analyzes the models which have educated the students by the traditional morality. The last part is the key of the whole thesis, it emphasized the importance of combination of tradition and modern. It indicates to inherit the traditional morality with a right idea, to integrate the modern personality with traditional morality, and to fulfill the target of cultivating the student' modern personality by traditional morality.
