To cultivate students' scientific inquiring ability is the most important assignment for science education in age of knowledge economy. Putting inquiring teaching into chemistry teaching will help we arrive at the object of chemistry curriculum reform and make chemistry teachers expend their understanding of chemistry curriculum reform and development. This thesis is attempted to take senior middle school students as the research object, discussing necessity, feasibility and how to cultivate students' inquiring ability in high school chemistry teaching. The main research methods of this text are literature, investigation, interview and experiment.Considering there are lots of mistake area for scientific inquiring ability in theory and practice domain at this moment, firstly, this text will make a thorough discussion for scientific inquiring ability itself, then analyses the essential factors and the basic ability requirement for it.The thesis used experimental method chiefly to investigate the present situation and the main influential factors of high school student's scientific inquiring ability. This research also put forward some teaching tactics based on the achievement of real practice and other researches' conclusions. The preliminary achievement has obtained as followed:First, ability of putting forward questions and subjects, ability of guessing and supposing, ability of formulating schemes for inquiring, ability of collecting dates and evidence, ability of analyzing and formatting conclusion, ability of evaluating and introspecting and ability of cooperating and exchanging are the integral elements of scientific inquiring ability.Second, most of the high school students have low scientific inquiring ability and there exists development disequilibrium for the seven ability elements.Third, students' learning motivation for inquiry, students' cognition structure and cognition development standard, teachers' scientific accomplishment, study resource and environment for inquiring study are the main influential factors of students' inquiring ability.Fourth, in order to raise students' scientific inquiring ability in chemistry teaching , we can adopt the following teaching tactics:(1) Construct suitable studying resource and environment for science inquiry;( 2 ) Organize inquiry learning for the students;( 3 ) Form effective evaluation for inquiry learning.
