Task value is an important component of motivation. They have important influence on self-regulated learning and academic performance. This study mainly introduces the concept of task value and the components of task value. Furthermore, this paper explores subject difference, the relation of grade and gender of the components of task value, and the predictive power of the components on self-regulated learning and academic performance.This study investigates 429 students of middle school using questionnaire. The results are as following: (1) There is subject difference between math and Chinese in the components of task value. (2) There is interaction of grade and gender only in interest value and helpful value of math. There is no interactions in other components of math and Chinese task value. (3) The components of task value except cost of Chinese and other-directed outside value of math and Chinese, have impact on self-regulated learning. Moreover, The components of task value except helpful value of math and other-directed outside value of math and Chinese, have influence on academic performance.
