Students'attitude in writing now has been one of the centers of discussion and study in Writing Instruction. This paper makes a study of this issue from the viewpoint of self-development, attempting to construct a new model of Writing Instruction: Self-development Writing Instruction with the purpose to tackling the problems in writing affect and attitude on the part of students.The paper includes four sections:(1)Issue showing. This section shows the main task of Writing Instruction and the current state of the ignorance to students'attitude in writing.(2)Self-development an.d Writing Instruction. This section makes an introduction to the self-development theory and elaborates on self-development as a source in motivating writing-learning and a critical role in writing attitude. This section expounds on the advantage of Writing Instruction in promoting self-development as well.(3)The exploration into the Self-development Writing Instruction practices. This section makes a introduction to the relevant practices at home and abroad, suggests a path to Self-development Writing Instruction, and proposes a whole skema for Self-development Writing Instruction as well as a model of instruct.(4)The openness to the issue. This section points out some difficulties and possibilities in Self-development Writing Instruction.
