This study probed into investigating how the motivation theory affects to promote the teachers' morale in Macao. This study obtained two results through analyzing the motivation theory > the value and the intension of teachers' morale. (l)Teachers' personal factors and the environment of the school directly affect teachers' work motivation and morale. (2) The six aspects of teachers' work motivation (the environment of the school, safety and welfare, belongingness and support, justice, esteem and a target ambition) are directly related to teachers' morale. This study employed the questionnaire survey method. The main purpose of this study was to investigate and acquaint the priority sequence of the stimulative motivations of the teachers as well as the perspective of the teachers to the importance and possible achievements of each motivation measure. As a result, expecting to know well what the basic needs of the teachers in Macao are, how the contented degree is as well as which needs can be satisfied to mobilize the motivation of the teachers.This study mainly adopted the questionnaire survey method, and assisted by the individual interview. The subjects included 320 teachers randomly drawn from 23 different schools in Macao, but only 273 questionnaires were valid. The survey instruments included two questionnaires "The Work Motivation of the Teachers from Kindergarten, Primary School and Secondary School in Macao" and "The Morale of the Teachers from Kindergarten, Primary School and Secondary School in Macao." The data was analyzed by reliability analysis, factor analysis, descriptive statistics ' t-test ' one-way ANOVA and multiple stepwise regression yield the following results:1. The six top factors of the six aspects of teachers' work motivation among the thirty motivation factors in "The Work Motivation of the Teachers from Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary School in Macao Questionnaire" are:(l)"To keep on raising teachers' salary" which is not only at the first placeof the environment of the school aspect, but also is the key factor amongthe thirty motivation factors. (2)"To make laws to protect teachers' rights and interests as soon aspossible" which is the most important motivation factor of the safety andwelfare aspect. (3) "To build a harmonious working atmosphere, the colleagues will not beenvious each other but get along with each other happily" which is themost essential motivation factor of the belongingness and support aspect. (4)"To be fair to all teachers' working evaluation" which is the majormotivation factor of the justice aspect. (5)"To maintain teachers' esteem" which is the significant motivation factorof the esteem aspect. (6)"To enlarge teachers' professional post and rank. To increase theopportunity to be promoted" which is the vital motivation factor of thetarget ambition aspect.2. There is a remarkable difference among the teachers' work motivations because of their different background. In conclusion, among the nine individual background factors, the higher work motivation groups are: female teachers, teachers working in private school, the primary and kindergarten teachers working in private school, the head-teacher of the class, teachers who have professional knowledge in education and those whose salary ranges from $6100 to $10000 per month. There is no outstanding difference amongthe teachers from the day school and those from night school, the teachers' working years and the total teaching periods of a week.3. There is a notable difference in teachers' morale because of the different background. In conclusion, among the nine individual background factors, groups which have higher morale are: female teachers, teachers from day school, teachers working in private school, kindergarten and primary school teachers, teachers who have professional training, teachers whose salary ranges from $6100 to $10000 per month and those who have less periods.
