The Impact Of Mass Media On The The Sunan Rural Leisure Life Changes

This thesis is a part of the cultural research field of the scientific research project sponsored by Professor Fang Xiaohong: the research on the interacting relationship of mass media and politics, economy, cultural development.Leisure life is an inevitable product of social development and technological improvement. Its content and quality can most reflect people's living quality. And mass media is inseparable from leisure life. It's the main form or even the whole content of the latter. The level of leisure life in an area is always closely connected with that of its modernization. Because of many factors, there exists a considerable difference between the level of cultural life in countryside and that in urban areas. The components and quality of leisure life are the concentrated expression of this difference.The level of the economic development of the southern countryside in Jiangsu Province is above the average of nationwide countryside. But compared with that of urban areas, it still has a long way to go. The structure of its residents has changed with the development of the village and township enterprises. They're not the fanners in the traditional sense. Hence, the leisure life here has characteristics different from that in urban areas and other rural areas.In early 2000, the group of the project mentioned above made an investigation in the form of questionnaires in the southern countryside in Jiangsu Province. Based on the result of this investigation, this thesis attempts to analyze the change of the position of mass media in the leisure life in the southern countryside in Jiangsu Province and the change of the former's influence on the latter after the reform and opening to the outside world, thus summarizing the influence of mass media on the leisure life in the southern countryside in Jiangsu Province.
