With the development of society, Universities have made much more progress than ever before, and university building are playing an more and more important role in our society. So, it's necessary to have a study on the design of this type. Combined with the design process of a real project the Teaching Center of Dalian University of Technology, the thesis makes an approach on the intrinsic character of university building and came to a conclusion that campus is an artificial environment suitable of study and companionship, and that the design of university building should lay an emphasize on the generation of humane space. Step by step, the content of the thesis indicates the process and method of the design: the present of problems-the cognition of subjective condition (cognition of concepts about archeteture and cognition of meaning about the topic) the collection and analysis of objective condition- the resolution of the problems. The significanse of the thesis is not the final design but the cognition and pursuit of humane space throughout the process.
