Nowadays, there exists two different opinions about the property of Chinese, one is instrumental and the other is humanity, whereas, the rising of quality education shows more humanity of Chinese and the aim of language teaching should be sublimation and perfection of human nature.The may forth selected text that talked about in this paper refers to those chapters which were chosen into High School Chinese Textbook, including six texts during a decade from May Fourth New Cultural Movement in 1917 to 1927. In the questionnaire, the may forth selected text contents six texts from High School Chinese Textbook. The viewpoint of this paper is that humanities of high school Chinese should be paid more attention in today’s language teaching.One of the basic conceptions of new course reform is to bring education function of language teaching into full play and to realize value pursuit of all-around development of human being. Based on the conception of new course and a case study from a girls’ high school in Kunming, a questionnaire and interview has been designed around may forth spirit and humanity. In order to facilitate the investigations and statics, the investigated subjects are all students from grade 2 and grade 3 of the girls’ high school in Kunming, and the interview subjects are three language teaching teachers from this high school. The survey result reflects the tendency of scientism and pragmatism in the current language education, which means Chinese teachers put all the attentions on making their students memorize clearly and grasp firmly the language, especially under the pressure of college entrance examination.Thereafter, to the problem existing in high school humanity education some reasons concerning both teachers and students are give. There are four main reasons about teachers, first, the concept of humanistic education for teachers is relatively weak and they ignore humanity education, second, teachers do not fully recognize the humanity value in The may forth selected text, third, teaching methods are mechanized. There are generally two reasons for students, one is that their basicknowledge is relatively week so as to underestimate the value of humanity education,the other is students do not pay attention to summarize study methods.The last but not least, to solve the existing problems some advice is given,including teachers should attach more importance into Strengthening the Practical Significance of Chinese humanistic education in high school, pay Attention to enhance themselves’ humanities accomplishment and the importance of education in the humanities, try to build a new class that is full of humanity education, launch some special courses about humanity education timely and construct a new teacher-student relationship.
