It has been an important mission to guide a group of undergraduate colleges to transform to universities of applied science for the reformation of higher education in China, which brings new challenges to related colleges. China’s National Middle and Long Term Educational Development Plan Outline(2010-2020) pointed that education is based on teacher. Faculty is the major task for the success of transformation. The success of the transformation of faculty directly determines the result of transformation of colleges and universities.The investigative core of this paper is “teachers’ professional development â€. The paper investigates the situation of teachers’ professional development in one local undergraduate college of Henan province. According to the new requirements of teachers’ professional development in the context of transformation, the paper points out three problems: they are less aware of being professionally developed; they have uncompleted knowledge; they have weak comprehensive practice ability.In view of the existing problems of teachers’ professional development, this paper put forward solutions to promote teachers’ professional development from two aspects of teachers’ personal and external supporting environment. In The teachers should do as follows: transform their educational philosophy; strengthen the knowledge accumulation, update the knowledge structure; enrich professional experiences in practice to improve the ability of application; explore new teaching methods, adjust the teaching behaviors. From the external aspect, the relevant departments and colleges should provide policy guarantee and support for teachers. For example, building support transformation system to enhance teachers’ practical ability; establishing qualified platform for their professional development; setting up some projects to support the teachers’ professional development. |
