Song Gaozong 's Painting And Calligraphy

Emperor Gao Zong of the Song Dynasty is a very famous emperor in Chinese history, and a very well known calligrapher as well as a collector of Chinese calligraphies and paintings. The ancient calligraphies and paintings before Song Dynasty witch now we can see, most of them were belong to the collection of Emperor Gao Zong. The history of ancient Chinese calligraphy and painting collection after Song Dynasty is affected by Gao Zong deeply. In this paper, the emperor and collector identities of Gao Zong was as the breakthrough point, starts with the historical records witch related to the collection of the emperor. by carding related history records and combining with related calligraphies and paintings, this article makes some complements to former studies. The first part of the paper includes the emperor’s life, the emperor’s painting and calligraphy creation and the royal collection of painting and calligraphy before Gao Zong, thoughe the brief introduction, we know the historical and social background of his collection. Secondly, for the emperor, the specific content of the painting and calligraphy as a hidden from the collection of sources, contents, diaspora, framed grade aspects are illustrated, on which involved the textual research of some basic solutions to. Finally, the aspects of the emperor and calligraphy as a hidden activity content of the emperor summarizes the characteristics of painting and calligraphy collection, and contact time background to the influence of the emperor in calligraphy and painting collection of these features, from the political Angle and the Angle of aesthetic preference are analyzed.Hope this article could make some scholars pay attention to the ancient Chinese calligraphy and painting collection history. Especially the weak links, such as the collection history before the Song and Yuan Dynasty, basic history records related to the collection history, the collections of artist’s work which from the same age with the collector.
