Curriculum standards are basic programmatic document of the national curriculum, which not only regulate the geography education, but also explicitly stipulate quality of school geographical education. In order to do high-quality people, citizens who are at a new era, should be able to scientifically understand the relationship between people and land, establish the concept of sustainable development and practice the socialist core values. In light of this, society propose new requirement for amendments to high-school geographical curriculum standardsMaking use of literature, analysis, historical method, comparative method and so on, we investigate each version of the geographical curriculum standards drafted up since founding of China from the lens of content, characteristics, structure, background, motivation and other aspects. Firstly, by the comparison analysis, the geographical curriculum standards formulated since founding of C hina.Secondly, we expound content, characteristics and composition of different version geographical curriculum standards. Thirdly, there is a sufficient detailed investigation of social factors which promote geographical curriculum standards being amended and perfect. Furthermore, we give some comments to amendment to geographical curriculum standard from the perspective of policies, economy, technology and foreign geographical education. Under the idea of teaching and curriculum standards coordinated development, environmental problems have become increasingly prominent, recruitment system reform scheme and Implementation for more than nine years of free education policy of influence, draws the implications of the revised curriculum standards: to cultivate citizens with the necessary geographic literacy as the goal; social socialist core value concept to integrate the concept of geography curriculum standards; increase the proportion of environmental literacy in geography curriculum standard; add geography cutting-edge ideas, to enable students to grasp the direction of the development of modern geography.
