| Chinese Curriculum Standards of Compulsory Education (2011) clearly states that literacy and writing is the basis of reading and writing, the focus of the first semester and also an important teaching content throughout the entire stage of compulsory education. Chinese character is one of the oldest human characters, a self-derived character which is still in use up to now in the world, and also the Chinese cultural treasures. Chinese characters can be structurally divided into indecomposable characters and decomposable characters. Specification of the indecomposable Characters commonly used in the Modern Chinese which was issued in 2009 by Ministry of Education and State Language Commission identified 256 modern conventional indecomposable characters. The number of indecomposable characters is small but its ability of configuration is strong so that indecomposable characters can be assembly units to participate in the constitution of decomposable characters and play a very important role in Chinese system. The first grade of primary school is not only the initial stage of learning Chinese characters, but also an important stage to contact a large number of indecomposable characters. Statistics of Chinese textbooks of primary school written by Jiangsu Education Publishing House showed that the largest number and proportion of indecomposable characters are in the word list of the first grade. Given the groundbreaking significance of indecomposable characters in the first grade literacy teaching, this paper takes Chinese textbooks of Jiangsu Education Publishing House in primary school for instance to conduct a series of superficial researches in order to explore a more scientific and efficient indecomposable characters’teaching strategies which are applicable to the first grade stage.This paper is divided into three parts.The first part are the surveys and analyses about current teaching situation of indecomposable characters in the first grade of primary school which uses Chinese textbooks of Jiangsu Education Publishing House. The first is based on the Chinese experimental textbooks in the first grade of Jiangsu Education Publishing House to analyze the arrangement of literacy. The second is to enter a municipal primary school in Hefei which uses Chinese textbooks of Jiangsu Education Publishing House to conduct field investigations including the interviews about teachers’ teaching of indecomposable characters and classroom observations of daily literacy teaching. The author takes this school for example and summarizes the current situation of indecomposable characters of the first grade.The second part is about teaching strategies which are applicable to indecomposable characters in the first grade of primary school which uses Chinese textbooks of Jiangsu Education Publishing House. According to these teaching strategies, the author also implemented classroom teaching and made the corresponding reflection. The first is strategy of leading-in of situation of literacy which focuses on textbooks and conforms to literacy. The second is literacy strategy of indecomposable characters which uses etymology analysis to memorize ideographical indecomposable characters; uses comment words to memorize symbolic indecomposable characters and uses familiar characters to memorize unfamiliar characters under the rule of reconstruction. The third is identified strategy of indecomposable characters which aims at Chinese characters in phonology and similar Chinese characters in shape. What’s more, this strategy also classifies all indecomposable characters of the first grade and then applies and records all teaching strategies of indecomposable characters to the first grade classroom. The last are reflections about teaching actions.Based on the pros and cons of the first round of actions, the third part develops more scientific programs of action and implements the teaching action of indecomposable characters of the first grade in primary school. Finally this part makes a deeper reflection and summary based on the process and result of reactions.Through this study, this paper relied on textbooks and concluded some strategies including the strategy of leading-in of situation, memorizing strategy of indecomposable characters, identified strategy of indecomposable characters and consolidated strategy of indecomposable characters. Moreover, the paper uses modern teaching methods to assist teaching of indecomposable characters in order to assure the confidence of literacy of children and hopes it will be beneficial to the teaching of indecomposable characters of primary school. |
