Language and culture are inseparable, so the process of learning a country’s language is to understand the nation’s culture. The 2011 edition of curriculum standard emphasize the importance of culture in the English course, therefore the textbook which revised on the basis of curriculum standard also adjusted and updated accordingly. In order to verify whether the realistic English cultural teaching meet the requirement of curriculum, scholars should not only analyze the cultural factors involved in the textbook,but also investigate their presentation status in the teaching environment. Statistic analysis of the primary English textbook in FLTRP version by content analysis shows that the cultural factors in these textbooks in line with standard requirements, only the cultural capacity and content arrangement have some shortage. Meanwhile through questionnaires,interviews and classroom observations to research the present situations of the cultural information in textbook has found the education administrative department should pay more attention to spread the English cultural awareness. And the educational philosophy of school is of great help to English cultural teaching. Teachers’ ideas and corresponding cultural teaching behavior are also contributed to the decisive factors in English cultural teaching. In view of the problems found in the investigation and analysis, author suggests to build a diverse team of textbook writer who owns the broad cultural horizon. Then increase the capacity of the cultural content in the textbook, especially in two aspects:English countries’ historyã€geography and the non-verbal communication culture. For a better implementation of English cultural teaching, the education administrative department should strengthen the attention to the cultural teaching; the school should be committed to establish an excellent educational philosophy and the teachers should improve their own cultural teaching ideas and behavior. |
