Cognitive load is the amount of mental activity is imposed on the individual cognitive system in a specific operation time. In the existing literature abroad, cognitive load is an important factor affecting learners listening comprehension. The study on Meyer’s "theory of multimedia learning" and Sweller’s "cognitive load theory" as the foundation, Select the mode of presentation and listening strategy as the two influencing factors of cognitive load, discussion on both under the influence of the cognitive load of primary school students in our country is how, as well as the change of cognitive load will bring influence on English listening comprehension. First of all, by authoritative classification on listening strategy as the basis,691 the three to the sixth grade primary school students select four of Nanjing city conducted a questionnaire survey, The preparation of a validity and taste "pupils listening strategies scale".And then,290 the fifth grade students and then select the L primary school in Nanjing city for Experiments 1 and 190 the fifth grade students to experiment 2. The experimental results show that:(1) Reduce the cognitive load and the accuracy of the listening comprehension has significant negative correlation; (2) Animation and no subtitles is to reduce the cognitive load is the most effective way of presenting;(3) Types of pupils listening strategies is a subset of adult listening strategies, and can be summed up as "notes", "presentation and native language help", "inference", "imagination" and "focus" five categories;(4) In the material presentation mode is not perfect, the students it is difficult to understand the case, there is a significant negative correlation with the cognitive load to reduce the use of listening strategies, there is a significant positive correlation with the accuracy of listening comprehension.Because no domestic study of pupils listening strategy classification, so this study compiled in "Primary Listening Strategy Questionnaire" to fill the blank in this field to a certain extent, At the same time for English teachers in primary school has enlightening role in Listening Teaching. In the experimental part of this study in measuring about cognitive load to temporarily take is "second task method", How to objectively and accurately measuring cognitive load will be the direction of future research.
