The Development Of Olympic Culture From The Perspective Of Cultural Identity

The Olympic Movement, which has got general participation and support fromcountries all over the world, is an international sports event. It plays a great role in theworld and is a masterpiece of human cultural history. With the continuousdevelopment of society, the Olympic movement has become an indispensablecomprehensive sport in the new century and become a cultural exchange platform forevery country. For hundreds of years, its great compatibility to plural culture helps theOlympic Movement to won respect of people. Cultural pluralism has become the goalof the Olympic Movement, but also become an important guarantee for the OlympicMovement. However, the single tendency of the Olympic culture has become a hugestumbling block to the development of the Olympic Movement. For many years,cultural imperialism remains playing a large role in determining the development andevolution of Olympic culture system. As western culture remains taking an absoluteleading factor in Olympic culture, the development of Olympic culture has beenmoving toward the westernization, which makes non-western sports culture has moredifficulties to enter the Olympic culture. All the reasons above produced an importantinfluence on Olympic cultural pluralism and also provided an opportunity forhegemonic. So how to uphold the Olympic multicultural identity in the era ofglobalization becomes an urgent problem which needs to be solved at present.Cultural pluralism is the power source of the sustainable development of theOlympic. Cultural homogeneity will only make the Olympic road get narrower.Multicultural coexistence and multicultural identity become the main trend of worldcultural development. Cultural homogeneity has not adapted to the developmentdemand of the times. Any country and nation wanting modernization must breakthrough the single culture identity. Cultural diversity is an important support for thesustainable development of Olympic culture. It is an important source of the healthydevelopment of Olympic culture. No identity, No acceptation, so multiple culturalidentity is an important foundation for the realization of Olympic cultural diversity. Strengthening the identity of cultural pluralism has important strategic significance torealize the Olympic culture pluralism. The article studies the Olympic culturalpluralism and cultural homogeneity using the study methods of document, interviewof expert and content analysis, from the view of culture identity. The main results are:1. Carried out the general research on cultural identity theory, and then summedup the characteristics and the ways of the Olympic culture identity from the culturalidentity theory.2. Analyzed the difficulties and challenges of Olympic cultural developmentunder the single cultural identity and the importance of multicultural identity for theOlympic cultural development.3. Analyzed the significance of multicultural identity on the Olympic culture, thewestern sports culture and the development of Oriental traditional sports culture. Andanalyzed the important value of different culture identity for human cultural creativityand progress, and summed up that the single culture identity has not adapted to thedevelopment of human culture.4. Summarized four main ways to realize the Olympic multicultural identity fromthe development of cultural identity theroy: Break down stereotypes; eliminate theOlympic Culture "single identity"; establish multiple, eaqual,harmonic concept ofcultural identity; strengthen the culture exchange;enhance the cultural strength,strengthen national personality.
