With the new curriculum reform, modern education emphasizes the students’ comprehensive quality promotion. It is not only the ability of examination oriented education, more attention about the cultivation of students’ ability in many aspects. In English teaching, the basic idea of cultivating students’ comprehensive quality and ability is putted up. Homework is an important part of teaching and an important form of student learning and the extension. Supplement of classroom teaching is the key linkage of the extracurricular class teaching and learning. It can consolidate the knowledge learned in the classroom, effectively feedback on the effect of teaching and learning and train students’ ability of independent thinking and learning. The amount of homework design, form and the concept of teacher education is the perspective view.Layered design of the current English homework has not caused enough attention in English education researchers.But in this study, I have taught the student as the main research object, using literature research, questionnaire survey and other methods to carefully analysis the high grade English homework of our school, including the attitude of the work, the difficulty of the work, the amount of the work and the main form of work. At the same time through interviews of 11 English teachers in our school,I in-depth understood the design for the completion of homework. On the basis of sufficient analysis on multi-intelligence theory, combined with the corresponding Gardiner’s zone of proximal development theory and humanistic foundation theory research, layered design of homework discusses the feasibility of the implementation of hierarchical English homework in school. I can find the roles that English layering working plays in the English learning.From the analysis of the stratification of English homework in the implementation of the results, We can find the attitude of the work and test scores have been changed to some extent. But also some problems appeared in the process of the implementation of hierarchical operation. Layered operation and the examination can not effectively combined. Layered homework makes a significant increase in the workload of teachers. Parents do not support hierarchical operation. How can we encourage students to a higher level of progress by reducing the student result polarization.
