With the development of economy and the refinement of social division of labor,teaching profession also gradually entered the stage of specialization. Teacher professionaldevelopment is the main way to improve the quality of teachers and education. As theprincipal part of our country’s higher education excellent talents input, model high schoolteachers’ own professional development level directly affects the quality of personneltraining. With the deepening of the teacher education reform, the professional developmentof model high school teachers will be faced with many opportunities and challenges.At present, the overall professional development of provincial model high schoolteachers is in good condition. First of all, the provincial model high school teachers showtheir high quality as a whole. Second, the provincial model high school teachers havedemonstrated a strong will in professional development, and a majority of them take theinitiative to care about their own professional development situation. Third, theprofessional development of provincial model high school teachers is mainly in a matureperiod of growth and stability, and enjoys a larger development space as well. In the end,the professional development pressure of provincial model high school teachers ismoderate, accompanying with appropriate regulation.Although overall status of professional development of provincial model high schoolteachers is seemingly satisfactory, some problems can still be found, mainly in thefollowing aspects: unreasonable assessment of teacher professional development,autonomy shortage in teacher professional development, imperfection of teacherprofessional development training system, defectiveness of teacher professionaldevelopment research system and the knowledge and ability insufficiency of teacherprofessional development.The analysis of the factors involved in professional development of provincial modelhigh school teachers is a prerequisite for solving those problems that arise in their ownprofessional development. Individual micro-factors, School meso-factors and socialmacro-factors will all affect the professional development of provincial model high schoolteachers to some extent. For example, all the following factors, including “individual wageincome”,“school incentive policy”,“school study atmosphere”,“the conflict betweenquality education and exam-oriented education”,“social expectations for teachers”, etc.,has restricted the professional development of provincial model high school teachers tovarying degrees. The professional development of provincial model high school teachers should, on thebasis of following people-oriented and innovative ideas, be improved at three levels. At theindividual level, teacher professional development autonomy should be strengthened,including making teachers’ personal professional development plan, establishing a conceptof lifelong learning, improving teachers’ autonomy, carrying out effective researches oneducation and teaching. At the school level, reasonable operation mechanism should be setup to promote teacher professional development, establishing school-based researchingmechanism, expert assistance mechanism, teacher flow mechanism, a learning campus, etc.At the social level, the institutional guarantee of teacher professional development shouldbe perfected, including improving the incentive system, promoting the reform ofdistribution system, optimizing teacher management system, standardizing the evaluationsystem, completing the training system, etc.As a field with a high degree of research value and demand, professional developmentof provincial model high school teachers, as long as careful researches are undertaken, hasa lot of room to grow and the achievements of which will have profound guidingsignificance. The professional development of provincial model high school teachers is inrelation to the quality of college talents as well as the future of our country and nation,hence it should be paid sufficient attention.
