As native Rakhine inhabitants in western Myanmar, Rohingya Muslims are a people of mixed blood from ancient Arabs, Persians, Indians and Mongolians since 7th century. In the modern times, through three Anglo-Burmese war, Burmese government had conceded amounts of land including Rakhine state to British Colonial administration. In order to smoothly put the defiant Burmese under control, British colonial authority practiced a policy of divide and rule and increased the population of foreign labors to pillar the British rule. The increasing population of Indian labors worsened the relationship between the foreigners and native Burmese. In 1948, Burma claimed independence form Japanese ruling clique and built up a newly democratic government. In the same year, Rohingya people were granted with the nationality of Burma. But the implementation of that policy encountered difficulties, such as the low efficient government and illiterate Rohingya people. As a result, majority of Rohingya missed the opportunity of obtaining nationality became the unofficial foreign ethnic group. In 1962 a military coup occurred in Burma, which brought dire consequences to Rohingyas. The Burmese junta group began to impose deportation and persecution on"stateless"Rohingyas. Ruthless policies to Rohingyas have lasted for several decades and large number of them fled to neighboring countries. Recent years the junta group tightened its prosecution policies to Rohingyas, which led to multiple negative impacts on all countries concerned and imposed threat on the peace and stability in Southeast Asia. Therefore timely resolving this decades-long refugee problem is an urgent task.
